Medical tourism is first and foremost a clinic choice, not a destination choice. The formula of cheap flights, a luxury hotel and a rushed procedure rarely aligns with the reality of aesthetic surgery. A well-planned treatment journey begins at the online consultation, extends far beyond the day of surgery, and continues through recovery and follow-up.
Nis Clinic combines North Cyprus's peaceful location with an evidence-based surgical practice. Rather than competing on high patient volume, our priority is longer consultations, a more controlled surgical schedule and more consistent post-operative follow-up. Your journey is structured as a clinical process — not packaged as a tour.
This page was written to answer honestly the questions that arise for any patient travelling to the TRNC for treatment. We walk through package contents, process steps, country comparisons and accreditation in turn.
The TRNC is a relatively recent medical travel destination. It largely preserves the cost advantage of Turkey while operating with considerably lower patient volumes than major metropolitan clinics. The island setting offers a calm environment for recovery — a practical advantage particularly during the post-operative period, when rest directly influences healing quality.
Visa convenience
Visa-free entry for citizens of the EU, the United Kingdom and many other countries. Simplified procedures for Russia and Middle Eastern countries. The TRNC has its own passport control; transit via Turkey is the most common route.
Flexible travel routes
For patients travelling from Europe, the most practical route is a direct flight to Larnaca or Paphos (South Cyprus), followed by an overland crossing to the north through a border checkpoint. Ercan Airport, within the TRNC, is served exclusively via Turkey: direct flights operate from Istanbul, Sabiha Gökçen, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya and Adana — patients travelling from outside Turkey connect through Istanbul or Sabiha Gökçen before landing at Ercan.
Language access
Turkish is the native language; English is widely spoken in clinical settings and town centres. We have coordinators who speak Russian and Greek. In practice, there is no language barrier throughout the medical process.
Climate and recovery
The Mediterranean climate is conducive to recovery. Low humidity, moderate temperatures and clean air are factors that support reduction of post-operative oedema — particularly after nasal and facial procedures.
Price-to-value balance
Procedure costs run 40–60% below UK and German prices. Comparable to Turkey on cost, but with lower patient volume, longer consultations and a more disciplined follow-up structure.
Safety and privacy
The TRNC has a low crime rate. The clinic's immediate surroundings are quiet; the ability to recover away from a busy metropolis is meaningful for patients who value privacy following aesthetic surgery.
What Is Included in a Package
Our medical tourism packages are not standard "tour packages" — each is tailored to the planned procedure. The headings below describe the components common to every package. Duration of accommodation, number of transfers and the follow-up schedule vary according to the procedure.
Airport transfers
Private vehicle transfer from Larnaca or Ercan airport to the clinic or hotel. Return transfers after surgery are scheduled according to the type of procedure.
Accommodation
Accommodation at 4- or 5-star hotels with which the clinic has an agreement. Standard stays: 3 nights for hair transplant, 5–7 nights for breast or nasal surgery, 7–10 nights for BBL or abdominoplasty. Breakfast is included; meal options vary by hotel. Hotel selection is guided by patient preference balanced against proximity to the clinic.
Consultation and planning
Online pre-consultation (20–30 minutes with Dr. Meyzin), in-clinic face-to-face planning session, laboratory investigations, anaesthetic pre-assessment and — where indicated — cardiology consultation. The surgical date is not confirmed until the plan is finalised.
Surgery
Operating theatre use, surgical team, anaesthesia team, single-use medical consumables, and implant or graft costs where applicable are all included in the package. If a breast implant is to be used, the brand (Motiva, Mia FemTech) and size are selected together during the consultation, and any price difference is calculated transparently.
Medication and aftercare kit
Post-operative prescription analgesia, antibiotics (where required), cleansing solution, dressing materials, and specialist shampoo and spray for hair transplant patients are included in the package.
12-month follow-up programme
Clinic review on day 1 post-operatively, followed by remote photographic follow-up at 7 days, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months. Video consultation where needed. No additional charges arise during the follow-up period.
Coordinator team
From before your journey through to after your return, you have a single named coordinator. Transport, accommodation, appointments, language support and emergency contact all run through this one point of contact.
Three Tiers and Custom Requests
Packages are not one-size-fits-all. The type of procedure, whether you are travelling with a companion and the length of recovery produce a three-tier structure. The tiers below are a framework; a firm, itemised quote is provided only after the online consultation. Each line item appears separately — there are no hidden costs inside the package.
We do not publish price tags on this page. The reason: package content is shaped by the individual case, and a figure that appears low rarely reflects what a real plan costs. Once the plan is written, a net price is produced line by line — deposit, balance and refund conditions are stated explicitly in the written quote.

How the Process Works
The fundamental requirement of any treatment journey is a predictable flow. Spontaneous decisions run counter to the nature of aesthetic surgery. The six steps below summarise the process from first contact through to the final review twelve months later.
01
Pre-consultation — form and consultation with Dr. Meyzin
Submit an enquiry via the contact form, WhatsApp or email. We respond the same working day. An initial assessment is carried out, and photographs are obtained through a secure channel. A free 20–30-minute video call with Dr. Meyzin then follows: he reviews the case, outlines realistic expectations and discusses technical options. Patients who are not suitable candidates are told so clearly at this stage.
02
Planning — written plan, package quote, dates
Within 2–3 working days of the consultation you receive a written treatment plan and package quote. The plan covers: recommended procedure, technical approach, risk information and recovery schedule. The quote lists surgery, accommodation, transfers, follow-up, medication and implant (where applicable) on separate lines. Agreement on suitable dates, and flight and hotel suggestions, are all finalised at this step.
03
Travel and welcome
Depending on your country of departure, the route is planned via Larnaca (direct flight plus overland transfer) or Ercan (connecting through Turkey). A private vehicle meets you at the airport; the vehicle type is chosen with post-operative comfort in mind. Transfer to the hotel or clinic-adjacent accommodation. Pre-travel visa advisory is provided for countries where a visa is required.
04
Clinic process — examination, investigations, surgery
The day after arrival: final pre-operative examination at the clinic, laboratory investigations and anaesthetic pre-assessment. Cardiology consultation where indicated. Surgery is performed under the supervision of Dr. Meyzin, with an anaesthetist present throughout. Pre-discharge clinic review and aftercare instructions before you leave.
05
Recovery — in North Cyprus or after returning home
Depending on the procedure, 3–14 days of accommodation is recommended (details in the table below). An activity plan appropriate to your oedema and pain profile is provided. The return flight is timed appropriately; for some procedures (rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery) a 7-day wait is advised due to cabin pressure considerations.
06
12-month follow-up — day 7, months 1, 3, 6 and 12
Remote photographic review and video consultation where needed. Follow-up reports are recorded in the patient file. The 12-month outcome assessment is when surgical success is measured — not on the day of discharge. Follow-up is extended at no additional cost if required. The clinic line remains open at every stage: WhatsApp +90 548 899 08 08.
What Can You Do in North Cyprus During Recovery?
North Cyprus is known as a holiday destination, but following aesthetic surgery recovery remains the priority — not sightseeing. What is safe to do differs by procedure. The table below shows which activities are appropriate and which should be avoided according to the type of surgery. The definitive schedule is provided to each patient individually in Dr. Meyzin's written recovery plan — the framework below is a general guide only.
Important UV warning: North Cyprus lies within the Mediterranean belt. Between May and September, the UV index consistently runs in the 8–11 range (WHO classification: "very high" to "extreme"). Where post-operative skin oedema is present, UV exposure can cause permanent hyperpigmentation. During the recovery period, direct sun should be avoided, SPF 50+ sunscreen must be used, and covered clothing is recommended for the first 30 days. Beach, pool and outdoor sporting activities are restricted until recovery is complete. This rule may mean that the leisure element of your trip should be deferred to a future visit after healing is finished.
Hair transplant (FUE/DHI)
Zero UV for at least 30 days
Safe activities
Shaded coastal walk (hat and wide shade essential; short duration only in the first 7 days)
Old-town sightseeing (Nicosia's Venetian Walls, Büyük Han) — covered clothing, morning or evening only
Relaxed routines between clinic and hotel
Coffee and restaurant culture (low exertion)
To avoid
Direct sun exposure — UV on grafts is not permitted
Swimming (sea or pool) — minimum 3 weeks
Sauna, Turkish bath, steam room — 30 days
Strenuous physical activity, sport, sexual activity — first 7 days
Helmet or tight hat pressure on the scalp
The Mediterranean UV index is in the 8–11 range between May and September (WHO classification: "very high"). If you are planning a hair transplant during summer, strict shade discipline throughout recovery is essential — the grafted area is subject to more stringent rules than general skin. Our summer sun safety guide was written for skin, but the rules for graft sites are stricter still.
Rhinoplasty (nasal aesthetics)
7-day wait before flying, 30 days sun avoidance
Safe activities
Rest in the hotel near the clinic (head-up positioning discipline for the first 3 days)
Restaurant meals (avoid very hot and heavily spiced food)
Gentle walk along Kyrenia harbour (from day 5 onwards)
Brief outdoor time with sunglasses (from week 3 onwards)
To avoid
Air travel — not advised for the first 7 days due to cabin pressure
Swimming — 4 weeks
Movements that strain the nose (bending forwards, blocking when sneezing, lifting heavy objects)
Spectacle frame pressure — must rest on the splint for 4–6 weeks
Direct sun — 30 days (post-oedema pigmentation can lead to permanent marks)
After rhinoplasty, visible oedema recedes significantly by 2–3 weeks; 90% of the final result is apparent by month 3. We recommend planning your return flight for days 7–10 — splint removal takes place on day 7 and the clinic review is on the same day. Detailed timeline: first 10 days after rhinoplasty.
Breast augmentation (implant or Mia FemTech)
2 weeks sleeping on your back, 6 weeks no swimming
Safe activities
Rest in the hotel with television or a book (supine position, pillow support)
Short walks (from day 2, 10–15 minutes)
Sitting at the beach edge (in shade, no sun)
Light restaurant meals
To avoid
Swimming and sea — minimum 6 weeks (surgical wound and implant capsule protection)
Using any support other than the prescribed bra — do not remove the compression bandage until the surgeon clears it
Activities requiring arm exertion (water sports, horse riding, golf)
Alcohol — first 10 days (increases oedema and interacts with medication)
Sexual activity — 3–4 weeks (elevated heart rate and chest movement)
The Mia FemTech minimally invasive implant system is offered within the practice aligned with Dr. Meyzin's Allergan AMI training in Singapore. Recovery time is comparable to standard silicone implants; however, the open-water restriction is the same.
BBL (Brazilian butt lift)
No sitting for the first 2–3 weeks
Safe activities
Rest lying down (prone or side-lying position)
Very brief sitting using a BBL cushion (for vehicle transfers — coordinator arranges this)
Light standing and gentle walking (from day 3)
Reading while reclining on a balcony
To avoid
Sitting directly — prohibited for 14 days; BBL cushion mandatory for the following 3 weeks
Swimming — 4–6 weeks
Sun exposure (fat grafts are sensitive to post-oedema pigmentation)
Driving — minimum 2 weeks (comfortable positioning is not possible)
Sport, yoga, running — 6 weeks
After BBL, the seated position restriction on the return flight is a significant logistical issue. Either plan the flight after day 14 (additional accommodation required) or arrange a non-economy seat with a BBL cushion. For safety details, see BBL safety: ultrasound-guided technique.
Facelift / eyelid surgery / combined facial surgery
2 weeks avoiding the outdoors, 30 days no sun
Safe activities
Rest in the hotel (head elevated)
Cold compress application (oedema management)
Short transfers for clinic reviews
Very gentle walking (short duration from day 3)
To avoid
Direct sun — 30 days (risk of hyperpigmentation and altered scar maturation)
Swimming — 4 weeks
Make-up — 2 weeks after suture removal
Facial massage and intensive facial treatments — 6 weeks
Head-down positions (yoga, exercise)
During facial surgery recovery, UV exposure over skin with residual oedema can cause lasting discolouration. Planning the holiday component of your trip for your next visit — after recovery is complete — is the clinically sound approach.
Medical aesthetics (botulinum toxin, filler, PRP, laser)
Departing the hotel the same day (once post-filler or post-toxin redness has settled)
All North Cyprus routes at a relaxed pace (Karpaz Peninsula beaches, Kyrenia Castle, Salamis ancient city)
Restaurant dining and cultural tourism at normal pace
To avoid
Direct sun — especially in the 30 days after laser; SPF 50+ is mandatory
Sauna, steam room, Turkish bath — 48 hours
Facial massage and lying face-down — 24 hours after botulinum toxin
Alcohol — on the day of injection (increases oedema)
Medical aesthetics procedures are the group most compatible with the holiday element of a trip. The one real constraint is UV. If your laser treatment is planned in summer, the North Cyprus UV index is very high — see the detailed protocol in the summer laser hair removal guide.
Visa and Access
Travel to the TRNC is planned via two airports. For most international patients, Larnaca (LCA) in South Cyprus is the most practical gateway: it receives direct flights from across Europe, and the overland journey through a border crossing to the north takes only 45–60 minutes. Ercan (ECN) is within TRNC territory and, because of its limited international recognition, is served exclusively from Turkey — so it is convenient mainly for patients connecting through Istanbul or Sabiha Gökçen. Our coordinator will help you choose between the two routes based on your country of departure.

Land at Larnaca and cross via a border checkpoint (Metehan / Agios Dometios) — approximately 45–60 minutes. Overland crossing is also possible through the Karpaz or Nicosia gates.
Larnaca (LCA) holds EU-recognised status and offers a wide network of direct flights from Europe; for most international patients it is the recommended gateway, followed by a 45–60 minute overland transfer to the north. Ercan (ECN) has limited international recognition and is served exclusively from Turkey; no direct flight from any other country is possible, so it is mainly suited to patients connecting through Istanbul. Our transfer team meets patients at both airports; the most suitable route for you is evaluated together during the planning stage. An honest note about the TRNC's limitation: patients arriving from abroad must either fly direct to Larnaca and travel an additional 45–60 minutes overland to the north, or connect through Istanbul to Ercan. The only zero-connection scenario is for passengers departing from Turkey.
Insurance, Medical History and Safety Protocol
The medical safety of a patient travelling from abroad depends as much on preparation and follow-up discipline as on in-clinic standards. Our clinic applies internationally accepted pre-operative and post-operative protocols — but there are parts of the process that are the patient's own responsibility. The checklist below is completed before travel and reviewed again at the clinic.
Comprehensive travel insurance is recommended for every international patient. Free emergency care linked to the TRNC's state health system is limited in scope; a complication may require further treatment in Turkey or in your home country. "Medical travel insurance" cover for aesthetic surgery complications is not automatically standard — check that the policy explicitly includes this before purchasing.
Country-by-Country Price Comparison
The table below summarises average private sector price ranges in different countries. The figures are for reference; the actual quote is confirmed after the consultation, based on the individual case plan. The table aims to present an honest range rather than a marketing-driven low figure — Turkey runs close to the TRNC and has not been highlighted in this comparison, as both are viable options for international patients.
All prices are reference ranges in €. Subject to change based on current exchange rates and package contents.

Accreditation and Standards
Our clinic operates under membership of the Cyprus Turkish Medical Association; Dr. İbrahim Meyzin's specialist plastic surgery registration is dated 11 July 2013 (Registry No: 969). Full academic details are available on his profile page. Implants and devices used are CE-marked or FDA-cleared brands — Motiva, Allergan and Mia FemTech (breast implants); Candela GentleLase Pro (laser); Allergan Botox (neurotoxin).
The surgical environment is prepared to operating theatre standard: ventilation, sterilisation and emergency response equipment are maintained in line with internationally recognised criteria. The anaesthetist is an integral and non-negotiable member of the surgical team throughout every procedure.
Peer-reviewed publications are verifiable in international databases (SAGE Journals, TJTES, Türkiye Klinikleri). The Allergan Medical Institute Applied Anatomy Workshop certificate (Singapore) keeps facial injection practice aligned with international standards. Dr. Meyzin holds the status of microsurgery trainer — a position as an instructor in his field, not passive certificate ownership.
Patient records are maintained in accordance with the relevant North Cyprus data protection framework and GDPR principles. Photographs are used with consent, via a written PDPL consent form, and only where the patient has provided written authorisation.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in the medical tourism package, and what is separate?
Included: surgery, operating theatre, surgical team, anaesthesia, single-use medical consumables, medication kit, transfers, accommodation (3–10 nights depending on procedure), consultation and 12-month follow-up. Separate: meals (breakfast included), personal preferences (upgraded hotel category), tours and excursion activities, companion extra accommodation (can be added on request). Every quote is presented as a transparent, itemised list.
Do I arrange my own flights?
Yes, flights are arranged by the patient; this allows you to choose your preferred airline, cabin class and dates flexibly. We help you evaluate whether Larnaca (direct from Europe, then overland transfer) or Ercan (via Turkey) is more suitable for you, and we provide transfers from both airports. We offer visa advisory for countries where a visa is required.
How many days should I stay in North Cyprus for surgery?
It depends on the procedure. Hair transplant: 3 nights (day 1 arrival, day 2 surgery, day 3 review and departure). Rhinoplasty: 7 nights (splint removal is awaited). Breast augmentation: 5–7 nights. BBL and abdominoplasty: 10 nights is preferred. This schedule may shift by 1–2 days according to the individual plan; the exact duration is confirmed after the consultation.
How and when do I make payment?
A deposit (typically 20–30%) is taken by bank transfer or international credit card to secure the booking. The remaining balance is collected on payment day at the clinic (bank transfer, credit card or cash). All payments are invoiced. No off-the-record payments are requested.
What are the cancellation and postponement terms?
Bookings cancelled 14 or more days in advance receive a full deposit refund. Cancellations between 7 and 14 days in advance receive a 50% refund. Cancellations within 7 days are non-refundable, but the deposit is held as a credit valid for use within 6 months. Cancellation or postponement for medical reasons (e.g. blood test results indicating the patient is not suitable for surgery) results in a full deposit refund.
Can I bring a companion?
Yes — we particularly recommend bringing a companion for major surgical procedures. Companion accommodation can be added to the package at extra cost (twin room supplement) or a separate room can be booked. It is entirely normal for a companion to attend consultations.
What happens if a complication arises after surgery?
A defined protocol applies: the clinic line is reachable around the clock (+90 548 899 08 08). If you have already returned home, you are advised to attend a local A&E and notify us simultaneously. Cases requiring revision (which occur rarely within the nature of aesthetic surgery) are assessed at the clinic without charge within 12 months; the cost structure of any revision procedure is explained during the consultation.
Which languages do you work in?
Turkish (native language), English (clinical standard), Russian and Greek (coordinator support). For patients who require Arabic, a specific arrangement is made at the time of booking. There is no practical language barrier throughout the medical process; an interpreter is brought in whenever needed.
How do I get a package quote?
Send your online consultation request via the contact form, WhatsApp (+90 548 899 08 08) or email ([email protected]). Within 2–3 working days you will receive a written treatment plan and package quote based on your pre-assessment photographs (where required) and intended procedure. The pre-consultation is free of charge.
Why do you not publish prices on this page?
The price of aesthetic surgery varies considerably between cases — the same "rhinoplasty" label covers revision surgery, nasal tip refinement and full reconstruction. Showing a single figure on the page either creates a wrong expectation or ends up as a marketing "starting from" figure. We prefer a written plan with an itemised quote following the consultation. This approach takes longer, but when you receive your quote there are no surprises.
What if I miss my flight or become ill before my surgery date?
If you miss your flight, the coordinator supports you through rebooking and the clinic-side surgical time is revised (a same-day or next-day shift). The deposit is protected and no additional clinic fee is charged. If you fall ill before travel (flu, fever, abnormal blood result), surgery is postponed; postponement for medical reasons results in either a full deposit refund or the deposit being held as a credit valid for 6 months. Details are set out in the written agreement.
I have no companion — can I travel alone?
For lighter to moderate procedures — hair transplant, botulinum toxin and filler, PRP, medical aesthetics, eyelid surgery — travelling alone is a reasonable option. However, for rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, abdominoplasty, BBL and combined procedures, a companion is strongly advised — self-care is limited in the first 48 hours, medication management requires attention, and support during vehicle transfers is a practical safety matter. For patients who cannot bring a companion, we arrange a private nurse visit for the first 3 days as part of the Premium package, making solo travel a safe choice.
Will the language barrier genuinely not be a problem?
Within the clinic there is no language barrier: Turkish and English are standard throughout the patient journey, Russian and Greek coordinator support is available on request, and Arabic is accommodated through appointment-specific arrangements. In everyday life outside the clinic, English is widely spoken in North Cyprus town centres; restaurants, hotels and taxis present no communication difficulties. Only local markets and small villages may have limited English — in those situations the clinic coordinator acts as intermediary.
