What is age spot?

Age spots begin to appear in middle age. Age spots appearing on the back of the hand and face are usually seen after the age of 40.

Age spots are most common in areas of the skin that are exposed to the sun. It occurs on the back of the hand, face, shoulders, back, and chest. They are in the form of clearly demarcated brown spots or moles of varying sizes. Sometimes it can shrink and grow on its own. It darkens in color in summer.

Age spots do not turn into cancer. Treatments are made for aesthetic purposes. But some age spots can be confused with skin cancer called lentigo maligna. Therefore, dermascopic examination should be performed in spots that grow suddenly.

How to treat age spots?

Cryotherapy (ice therapy) and laser treatments can be used in the treatment of age spots. If the age spots are in the form of raised moles on the skin, they can be removed with laser or cryotherapy in 1-2 sessions. Age spots in the form of spots that are not puffy from the skin can be treated in 1-4 sessions, at intervals of 1 month. There may be discoloration or crusting that lasts 4-7 days after the procedures.

How to remove age spots on hands?

This situation is temporary and is related to the skin structure of the back of the hand. Using treatments and creams that regenerate the skin during treatments accelerates the disappearance of redness.
